Nicole Massy is an interdisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation, and dance. Her work explores our relationship to the natural world and to each other. Sourcing materials directly from nature, she merges the organic with the industrial to reflect on the shifting balance between the natural and manmade environment. Through creating artwork from ephemeral organic matter, her work seeks to reflect on the impermanent and the cyclical nature of all things
Born 1997 in Indianapolis, Massy graduated magnma cumme laude from the Columbus College of Art and Design in 2019. Her work has been featured in galleries across the mid-west including Sean Christopher Gallery, ROY G BIV Gallery, Athens Arts, and Rosewood Gallery. Massy has received several awards, including the 2018 Gamblin Paint Award, the 2018 Dale Metternich Memorial Scholarship, and the 2018 Polly “Bunny” Alexander Scholarship. She was a 2021 artist in residence at Sculpture Space, New York, and a 2022 artist in residence at Arteles Creative Center in Hameenkyro, Finland. When she’s not in the studio, Massy loves to travel and practice contact improvisational dance.
